Craftmanship
Art knife
and fountain pen maker David Broadwell and fine engraver Raymond Cover
Jr struck up a close friendship many years ago. The two artists share
strikingly similar temperaments, beliefs, and a love for the outdoors and
flyfishing.
They are
both dedicated to meticulous detail and accuracy in their craftmanship, and
over the years they have worked on a number of dramatic theme
collaborations together.
They
begin with an idea for an art knife or fountain pen that will
incorporate an area for Cover's illustrated scenes on Broadwell's
sculpture. Both artists toss ideas back and forth, fueling each
other's creativity. The results are the pieces shown here. While
both men are proficient "sole authorship" artists, they agree
that some of their best work is the synergistic results of their
collaborative efforts.
