Three parts that make a whole. Broadwell has taken the triangular shaped pen to a new level with this model. The rounded triangle cross section that tapers toward each end is created by holding the rough turned barrel and cap  and grinding the shape on an abrasive belt grinder by hand. Symmetry is  maintained completely by eye. The panels on each side of the barrel are defined by cutting away the background and texturing it with a hand held rotary tool and files. Broadwell had engraver Ray Cover Jr. engrave and inlay gold into the first two pens in the series, with the layout different for each. The bottom picture shows the second Trinity pen made as a convertible pen with a roller ball section.

Trinity pens can be made in a variety of themes and configurations. These first two were engraved with bold American scrollwork, but other more specific themes could be chosen. If, for instance, sailing is of interest, three different sailboats could be engraved on the panels. Other thoughts might be ladies (no nudes), birds of prey, or predatory cats. The Trinity can also be made with a damascus steel barrel and trim, and could be pierced in a filigree style to show a textured  titanium inner barrel or with windows showing engraving. For a simpler look a Trinity can even be made in all synthetic material with metal trim. One is limited only by his or her imagination!

The Trinity Series
. . . is a structurally unique three-sided pen that Broadwell has designed. Creative lathe-turning techniques create three oval panels or canvasses for embellishment.
